Water Magician Isekai Novels to Premiere as TV Anime This July
The Water Magician (Mizuzokusei no Mahōtsukai), a popular light novel series written by Tadashi Kubō and illustrated by Nokito, is getting a TV anime adaptation. The anime will air in July 2025 on TBS and other channels, bringing the world of water magic and adventure to life on screen.
The story follows Ryo, a young man who is reincarnated in a magical world called Phi. Ryo’s dream is to live a peaceful life and learn to use his newfound water magic. However, things don't go as planned, and he quickly finds himself fighting against wild lands and dangerous monsters. Despite these challenges, Ryo stays optimistic and clever, aided by his special trait called "Eternal Youth," which makes him age incredibly slowly. Over the next 20 years, Ryo becomes one of the most powerful magicians in the world. His journey takes an unexpected turn when a fateful meeting changes the course of his life and pushes him into important historical events.
The anime features a talented voice cast, with Ayumu Murase voicing the protagonist Ryo, Kazuki Ura as Abel, a swordsman, and Kaede Hondo as Sera, an elf adventurer. The anime will be directed by Hideyuki Satake, known for his work on Delicious in Dungeon and Deca-Dence. The character designs are by Yūka Kozutsumi, and the series scripts will be written by Jun Kumagai, who has worked on Aquarion Logos and Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju.
The story originally started as a web novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in 2020 and was later published by TO Books in print. The light novel series has been quite successful, with its 11th volume released in July 2024, and the 12th volume scheduled for release in January 2025. The novels are also being adapted into a manga by Bokutengō, which began in September 2021. Additionally, a children’s version of the manga, illustrated by Taku, is also available.
The Water Magician promises to be an exciting and magical adventure, with plenty of action, humor, and heart. Fans of isekai stories and water magic are in for a treat when the anime premieres this summer!
