U.K. Release of Japanese-Language The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Set for Today!
Warner Bros. has announced that the Japanese-language version of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, directed by Kenji Kamiyama, will be released in U.K. cinemas starting today. This version will be shown with subtitles, following the release of the English-language version in December 2024. The film had already opened in U.S. theaters on December 13 and internationally, including the U.K., where it was shown in English from December 13.

The movie is set 183 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings films and focuses on the story of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan. The plot follows Helm and his people as they defend their stronghold, the Hornburg, against an attack by Wulf, a vengeful Dunlending lord. Wulf seeks revenge for the death of his father and brings a ruthless force to challenge Helm's kingdom. In this time of crisis, Helm’s daughter, Héra, plays a central role as she takes up the responsibility to lead her people in their battle for survival.
The Japanese-language version features a talented voice cast, with Fūka Koshiba voicing Héra, Helm’s daughter, who is the main character of the film. Masachika Ichimura voices Helm Hammerhand, the King of Rohan. Kenjirō Tsuda plays Wulf, the enemy lord. Other notable cast members include Manabu Muraji as Lot, Miyu Irino as Háma, Takako Honda as Olwyn, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Haleth, and Yūichi Nakamura as Fréaláf Hildeson.
The theme song for the film is titled "The Rider," written by Phoebe Gittins and David Long, and performed by Paris Paloma. Warner Bros. Japan had previously shared the Japanese-language trailer for the film, building excitement for its release.
