Suicide Squad Isekai Anime is Getting a Webtoon That's Breaking the Internet!

Warner Bros. Japan and Wit Studio’s Suicide Squad ISEKAI anime is set to expand into the realm of webtoons, with an official webtoon adaptation debuting on August 25 via LINE MANGA and Jump TOON. This marks a significant milestone as Wit Studio’s first simultaneous webtoon adaptation of an anime, further bridging the gap between the anime and webtoon mediums.

The webtoon will be produced in full color by Wit Studio, known for its stellar work on anime like Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga. Fans can expect the same high-quality animation and artistic detail that Wit Studio is renowned for, now translated into the webtoon format. This adaptation is anticipated to bring the intense and darkly comedic world of the Suicide Squad ISEKAI anime to a broader audience, especially those who prefer reading over watching.

The announcement was accompanied by a new visual and behind-the-scenes videos from the anime, highlighting sword battles between iconic characters Harley Quinn and Katana. These videos are from the anime’s first and seventh episodes, giving fans a closer look at the choreography and animation process behind the thrilling action sequences.

Suicide Squad ISEKAI made its debut in the U.S. on June 27, streaming on Max and Hulu with its first three episodes. The series has since captivated international audiences, premiering in territories such as Korea, France, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, and Mainland China. It began airing in Japan on July 5 on Tokyo MX and BS11, with streaming available on multiple platforms including ABEMA, U-NEXT, and Anime Hōdai.

The anime boasts a star-studded Japanese voice cast, featuring Anna Nagase as Harley Quinn, Yūichirō Umehara as The Joker, and Takehito Koyasu as Peacemaker, among others. The story is set in Gotham City, where Amanda Waller assembles a group of notorious criminals—Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface, and King Shark—for a mission in a fantastical world. This otherworldly realm, connected to Gotham through a mysterious gate, is rife with orcs and dragons. As the squad navigates this dangerous isekai, they find themselves imprisoned with a ticking time bomb—literally. They must conquer a hostile Imperial army within 72 hours to secure their freedom, facing death at every turn.

The anime is directed by Eri Osada, with Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara writing the scripts. Akira Amano is responsible for the original character designs, with Naoto Hosoda adapting them for animation. The music, composed by Kenichiro Suehiro, enhances the anime's dynamic atmosphere.
