Sk8 the Infinity: Extra Part Anime Unveils Exciting New Promo Video
Aniplex has just released the full promotional video for the upcoming Sk8 the Infinity Extra Part, a new original video anime (OVA). This video is longer than the "full trailer" previously shared in November, giving fans a better look at what’s coming.
The OVA will debut with an early, limited-time screening in Japan on January 24, showing in 10 theaters. Afterward, it will officially release on Blu-ray Disc on March 19, 2025. The OVA itself runs for 25 minutes, but the theatrical screenings will also include two additional features: a recap of the first season and a cast commentary video. Altogether, this package will bring the theater runtime to a full 60 minutes.
The OVA will consist of four unique episodes, each with its own story:
"Ame to Neko Conbini Ice Soda Aji"
"Maji de Maji ni Nareru Koto"
"Morning Routine"
"Ganbare Hiromi-chan!"
Fans of the first season will be excited to know that the original creative team is returning for the OVA. Hiroko Utsumi, known for Banana Fish and Free!, will once again direct the anime, with BONES as the production studio. Ichirō Ōkouchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion) is overseeing the scriptwriting, and Michinori Chiba (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans) is back as the character designer.
The Sk8 the Infinity anime originally aired in January 2021 and followed Reki, a high school sophomore passionate about skateboarding, and Langa, a transfer student from Canada who has no skateboarding experience. Together, they get drawn into "S," a high-stakes underground skateboarding race held in an abandoned mine. The race is full of intense competitors, from dirty racers to AI skaters, making it an exhilarating "youth skateboard race battle."
The anime premiered on ABC TV and TV Asahi’s “Animazing!!!” block and gained a lot of fans worldwide. Funimation streamed it as it aired and even released an English dub in February 2021. The franchise’s popularity also led to two stage plays in December 2021 and January 2023.
Excitingly, Sk8 the Infinity is also confirmed to be getting a second season, which fans are eagerly anticipating. With the OVA and the upcoming season, the franchise continues to offer fresh content for both long-time followers and new viewers alike.
