Shield Hero Season 4 Drops First Promo: Theme Songs & Staff Revealed!

Fans of The Rising of the Shield Hero have something exciting to look forward to! Kadokawa has officially revealed the first promotional video for Season 4, along with the anime’s theme song artists and main staff members.

Just like in previous seasons, the anime will be produced by studio Kinema Citrus. Hitoshi Haga is returning as the director after working on Season 3. Other important staff members from the last season are also coming back. Keigo Koyanagi is once again handling the series scripts. The character designs will be done by Franziska van Wulfen, Sana Komatsu, and Masahiro Suwa—the same team from the third season. Takanori Yamamoto, who worked as an episode director before, is stepping up as the assistant director for this season.

Music plays a big part in the Shield Hero experience, and Season 4 brings back the series' iconic composer, Kevin Penkin. He’ll be joined by returning sub-composers Alfredo Sirica and Natalie Jeffreys. The opening theme song is titled “Resolution” and will be performed by MADKID, who has done openings for earlier seasons. The ending theme, “Eien ni Ikkai no” (which means One Time for Eternity), will be sung by Chiai Fujikawa, another familiar voice to longtime fans.

Season 4 will also introduce a few new cast members, including Takeo Ōtsuka as Werner and Jirō Saitō as Jaralis. The anime is set to premiere in July 2025, so fans won’t have to wait too long.

The anime series first debuted back in January 2019 with a two-hour special. It ran for 25 episodes and quickly gained a strong fan base. Season 2 aired in April 2022, followed by Season 3 in October 2023, which had 12 episodes.

For those who want to dive deeper into the story, The Rising of the Shield Hero is based on a light novel series by Aneko Yusagi, which is also available in English thanks to One Peace Books. It follows Naofumi Iwatani, a regular guy who’s suddenly transported to another world. There, he’s chosen as the Shield Hero, the weakest of four legendary heroes. Betrayed and left alone, Naofumi must rise from nothing and become the hero the world needs.
