Pumpkin Scissors Manga Resumes After Being on a Hiatus for 4 years!

On March 6, Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine made a significant announcement that delighted fans of Ryoutarou Iwanaga's "Pumpkin Scissors" manga: the series is set to make a comeback to serialization in the upcoming May issue, scheduled for release on April 6.

The story, as described by Kodansha USA, revolves around the aftermath of a bitter war between the Empire and the Republic of Frost. Despite the ceasefire three years prior, the Empire still grapples with issues such as starvation, disease, and rampant banditry. 

In this chaotic setting, the Imperial Army State Section III, known as Pumpkin Scissors, emerges as a beacon of hope. Tasked with maintaining peace and order, Pumpkin Scissors faces new challenges, including combating a renegade force armed with chemical weapons. Amidst the turmoil, a mysterious stranger appears, offering assistance to Pumpkin Scissors, adding layers of intrigue to the narrative.

The manga entered a hiatus in March 2020, leaving fans eagerly awaiting its return. Iwanaga originally launched the series in Kodansha's Magazine Great back in 2002, before it later found its home in Monthly Shonen Magazine in 2006. 

Over the years, the series garnered a dedicated following, with Kodansha releasing the 23rd compiled volume in November 2019. Notably, Kodansha USA made the 23rd volume available digitally in July 2020, allowing English-speaking fans to continue their journey with Pumpkin Scissors.
