No Dragon Ball Super Episodes in 2024: Hiatus Update!
Fans of Dragon Ball Super will need to wait longer for new chapters. The manga has been on pause since March 2024, following the unfortunate passing of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. A recent update confirms that the manga will remain on hiatus for the rest of the year, leaving fans wondering about its future.
What’s Happening With Dragon Ball Super?
The manga took a break after releasing Chapter 103 in March, which concluded the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero arc. This lined up with the anime’s story, and fans were excited for what would come next—especially with the introduction of Black Frieza, the universe's new strongest warrior. However, with Toriyama’s passing, the story’s direction became uncertain.
Toyotaro, the artist behind the manga, has expressed interest in continuing the series. However, it’s a difficult task to move forward without Toriyama’s guidance, as the late creator had been directly influencing Dragon Ball Super’s storyline. Toyotaro would now need to craft future chapters while staying true to Toriyama’s legacy, which is no easy feat.
What About Dragon Ball’s Future?
While Dragon Ball Super is on hold, the franchise is not stopping entirely. A brand-new anime series called Dragon Ball Daima is in development. This project features a fresh story and new characters, and it will be the final series to include Toriyama’s direct input. After Dragon Ball Daima, the franchise will continue with new projects, though the creative path is still being determined.
Shueisha, the publisher of Dragon Ball, and the team behind the anime have shown interest in keeping the series alive with fresh content. However, fans are still waiting for updates on the manga’s return.
Will the Manga Return?
There’s hope that Dragon Ball Super will resume in the future. Other series, like Berserk, have continued after their creators’ passing, so it’s possible for Dragon Ball Super to do the same. However, it will require time, effort, and support from both the creators and the fans.
If Toyotaro can come up with a strong direction for the manga and gain backing from Shueisha, we might see the continuation of Dragon Ball Super. For now, fans will need to stay patient and show their support when the series eventually returns—especially to resolve storylines like Black Frieza’s epic fight.
