New Rurouni Kenshin Anime Season 2 Unveils First Ending Song in Fresh Video!

The latest buzz around the Rurouni Kenshin anime brings some thrilling updates! The official site for the new television anime adaptation of Nobuhiro Watsuki's beloved manga has dropped new content for its second season, titled Rurouni Kenshin Meiji Kenkaku Romantan: Kyoto Dōran (Kyoto Upheaval).
The big news? The first key visual and the second promotional video for this season have been revealed. The video features the new ending theme song, “Suikōsetten,” performed by NOMELON NOLEMON. This track will accompany the first cours (quarter of the year) of the season.
Season 2 Premiere and Production Team
Fans will also get a chance to catch an early glimpse of the season at special advance screenings. These will take place at TOHO Cinemas Nihonbashi in Tokyo and T Joy Kyoto on September 22. The chosen locations highlight significant points along the Tōkaidō route, which mirrors the journey of the series' protagonist, Kenshin Himura, to Kyoto.
The second season is set to premiere in October on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block. It will run for two continuous cours, spanning half a year. Yuki Komada, known for directing BUILD-DIVIDE, will helm this new season at LIDEN FILMS. Hideyuki Kurata will again handle the series scripts, while Terumi Nishii returns for character designs. Kazuo Watanabe joins as the chief animation director, and Yū Takami is back to compose the music.
Season 1 Recap and Cast
The first season of this rebooted anime aired from July 2023 to October 2023 and was well-received, with Crunchyroll providing streaming and an English dub. The anime re-adapts the core story of the manga, bringing fresh life to the classic tale.
In casting, the familiar voices are back: Sōma Saitō as Kenshin Himura, Rie Takahashi as Kaoru Kamiya, and other stars like Taku Yashiro as Sanosuke Sagara. New faces include Makoto Furukawa as Makoto Shishio and Daiki Yamashita as Sojiro Seta.
For manga fans, Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc continues, although it had a brief hiatus due to legal issues with the author. It resumed in June 2018 and remains a popular series.
