Miko Mitsuki to Debut New Manga Series This February!
Miko Mitsuki, a well-known manga creator, is set to launch a brand-new series titled Hana to Meoto - Taishо̄ Dekiai Otogi Zо̄shi (Hana and Meoto - Taisho Doting Fairytale) next month. The announcement came in the February 14 issue of Shogakukan's Sho-Comi X magazine. The series will officially begin serialization in the magazine's March 15 issue, which comes out on February 15.
Ahead of its debut, the same magazine issue included a reprint of the original one-shot version of Hana to Meoto, which was first published in Shogakukan's digital magazine &Flower. This gives readers a chance to revisit the story that inspired the new series.
Hana to Meoto Overview
The new manga is a battle-action romance centered on Yonaga and Hibana, a pair of newlyweds living in a world where humans and demons coexist. The intriguing blend of romance, action, and fantasy is set to unfold against the backdrop of the Taisho era, a period often celebrated for its mix of tradition and modernization in Japan.
This isn’t Mitsuki’s first foray into captivating storytelling. She recently concluded her manga series Shōnen Bride - Dansō Reijō to Kuro Shosei (Boy Bride - The Cross-Dressing Lady and Black Student) in August 2023. The series wrapped up with its tenth and final compiled volume. The manga began as a one-shot in January 2020 and was serialized fully by May 2020. It later shifted from Sho-ComiX to Sho-Comi magazine in March 2023.
Mitsuki has an impressive catalog of previous works. She ended Teito Hatsukoi Shinjū (Imperial City First Love Double Suicide) in November 2020, a series that started back in December 2016 and even released a side story in early 2021. Earlier in her career, she gained recognition for her manga Honey Blood, which was serialized in Sho-Comi in 2008 and completed with two volumes by 2010. This series was later licensed by Viz Media under its Shojo Beat line, bringing her work to an international audience.
Mitsuki is also known for other popular titles like Momo Lover, Love Knife, and Angelique Retour Secret Side. Her ability to craft compelling romantic and fantastical tales has cemented her place as a prominent shojo manga artist.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of Hana to Meoto to see how Mitsuki will once again blend romance, fantasy, and action into an unforgettable story.
