Kingdom Strikes Again! 6th Anime Season Confirmed for October
The official website for the anime adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara’s hit manga Kingdom has confirmed that a sixth season is on its way. The new season will premiere in October 2025 on Japan’s NHK network, and it promises to kick off a thrilling new chapter in the story.
Season 6 will dive into the fierce battle between the states of Qin and Zhao. This arc is one of the most anticipated in the entire series, with fan-favorite character Xin (Shin) stepping up to wield Wang Yi’s legendary spear and lead the charge on the battlefield. Expect intense strategy, powerful emotions, and brutal warfare – everything Kingdom is known for!
For those keeping track, Kingdom Season 5 aired earlier this year in January 2024, running for 13 action-packed episodes. It was streamed by Crunchyroll, and it’s expected that Season 6 will also be available on the platform for global audiences.
The Kingdom anime has come a long way since it first premiered in 2012. Its second season followed in 2013, with both being streamed by Funimation and later released on DVD. Season 3 arrived in 2020 but had to pause after just four episodes due to COVID-19. It resumed in 2021, starting again from the first episode. Season 4 aired in 2022, and the show has continued to grow in popularity ever since.
The anime is based on Yasuhisa Hara’s long-running historical manga, which follows Xin, a former slave with dreams of becoming a great general in ancient China. He teams up with Ying Zheng, the future Emperor of China, as they fight to unify the country during the brutal Warring States period.
Since launching in 2006 in Weekly Young Jump, the Kingdom manga has become a record-breaking success in Japan. And now, Viz Media is finally bringing the manga to English readers, starting this November – so it’s a great time to catch up!
With four live-action films, multiple anime seasons, and a loyal fanbase, Kingdom shows no signs of slowing down. Season 6 is set to raise the stakes even higher – so mark your calendars!
