JoJo Fans, Get Ready—HUGE News Coming This September!
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fans have something exciting to look forward to in 2025! The legendary manga series, known for its stylish artwork and unique storytelling, will be featured in an upcoming art exhibition in San Francisco.
The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco has officially announced the "Art of Manga" exhibit, which will run from September 27, 2025, to January 25, 2026, at the de Young Museum. This exhibition is groundbreaking as it will be the first in America to explore the evolution of manga art styles and their cultural impact worldwide.
One of the biggest highlights of the exhibit is the inclusion of Hirohiko Araki’s artwork from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Araki’s distinct art style, which blends influences from Italian Renaissance paintings, pop culture, and high fashion, has made JoJo one of the most visually striking manga series of all time. Fans will get to see original illustrations showcasing his intricate designs, expressive poses, and signature Stand abilities that have captivated audiences for decades.
Alongside JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, the exhibit will also feature works from Eiichiro Oda (One Piece), Rumiko Takahashi (Inuyasha), Gengoroh Tagame, Jiro Taniguchi, Kazumi Yamashita, Mari Yamazaki, and Fumi Yoshinaga. These artists represent a wide range of manga genres and styles, highlighting manga’s influence as a global art form.
JoJo’s deep connection to fashion will also be a key focus. The series has drawn inspiration from high-fashion brands like Versace, Vogue, Balenciaga, and Gucci, and even recently collaborated with the luxury handbag brand Samantha Vega. The "Art of Manga" exhibit will showcase how Araki incorporates these influences into his characters’ bold outfits and dynamic poses, making JoJo stand out in the world of manga.
For those unfamiliar, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure follows the Joestar family across generations, each arc featuring a different descendant facing supernatural battles against powerful foes, including the iconic villain Dio Brando. The manga’s Stand abilities, unique storytelling, and artistic innovation have made it a defining work in the manga and anime industry.
This exhibit is a historic moment for manga fans, as it places manga art on the same level as traditional fine art. Whether you're a longtime JoJo fan or a newcomer to the world of manga, the "Art of Manga" exhibit is a must-see event that celebrates the rich history and artistic brilliance of this beloved medium.
