Idol Precure Overview
The story follows Uta Sakura, a cheerful second-year middle schooler in Hanamichi Town who loves singing. One day, while walking her dog Kyū-chan, she discovers a mysterious peach-shaped object floating in a river. Inside is Purirun, an adorable fairy from Kira-Kira Land, who is seeking the legendary savior, Idol Precure. Purirun reveals that Kira-Kira Land is under threat from the Chokkiri gang’s leader, Darkiine. Soon after, the Chokkiri gang begins stealing the town’s “sparkle”—the unique energy of its residents. Determined to save everyone, Uta declares, “I want to sparkle! With my song!” and transforms into Cure Idol, the newest magical girl in the Precure universe.
Joining Cure Idol are Cure Wink (Nana Aokaze) and Cure Kyun-Kyun (Kororo Shigure), voiced by Minami Takahashi and Natsumi Takamori, respectively. Together, they aim to defeat Darkiine and restore the lost sparkle to Hanamichi Town.
The series boasts an impressive creative team. Chiaki Kon, known for Sailor Moon Eternal, is directing the anime, while Yoichi Kato, writer for Wonderful Precure!, is in charge of the series scripts. Character designs are by Miho Sugimoto, and music is composed by Erika Fukasawa and Misaki Umase.
The opening theme, "Kimi to Idol Precure Light Up!," will be performed by Chihaya Yoshitake, Ami Ishii, and Akane Kumada. The three main characters, in their respective voices, will perform the ending song, "Trio Dreams."
Ahead of the anime’s premiere, a live event called “Ohirome Debut Live” will be held on February 1 at Yokohama Landmark Tower. Additional events are planned in Nagoya on February 16 and Osaka on March 15, allowing fans to celebrate the series’ launch.
