Hunter x Hunter Creator Reassures Fans With Exciting Storyboard Progress Update
Fans of Hunter x Hunter received both good and concerning news recently as Yoshihiro Togashi, the creator of the beloved manga, shared an update on his health and work progress. While the series has released ten new chapters this year, it went on another indefinite hiatus, leaving fans eager for updates.
Togashi has been open about his ongoing health challenges. In a recent post on social media platform X, the mangaka revealed that he was bedridden for several days. “Although still a little unsteady, I have recovered enough to walk around the house and was able to retrieve my work smartphone on my own,” Togashi shared. He admitted he struggles to ask others for help, even as his health continues to limit his mobility.
Despite these hardships, Togashi surprised fans by announcing that another storyboard for the manga is now complete. This news sparked hope for the series’ eventual return, even though no release date has been announced for Chapter 411. Fans expressed their admiration and support for Togashi’s dedication, as he continues to work through physical difficulties.
Hunter x Hunter, one of the most popular Shonen series, first went on hiatus in 2022 during the ongoing Succession Contest Arc. The arc has kept fans on the edge of their seats, and the latest chapters released this year ended on a gripping cliffhanger. However, Togashi’s health issues, including chronic back pain and a surgery last November, have made regular serialization challenging.
In his post, Togashi mentioned that his surgery was performed under local anesthesia. While the specifics were not disclosed, the creator has previously spoken about the toll his health has taken on his ability to draw and write. These struggles have led to several long hiatuses since 2006.
Acknowledging these challenges, Shueisha, the manga’s publisher, agreed to release Hunter x Hunter chapters in formats other than weekly serialization to accommodate Togashi’s health. In 2023, he even shared that he had started drafting potential endings for the series in case he cannot complete it himself.
While fans remain concerned about Togashi’s well-being, his latest storyboard update is a sign of hope. For now, Hunter x Hunter remains on hiatus, but the author’s perseverance reassures fans that the series’ journey is far from over.
