Godzilla's New Manga Returns to Life — Sooner Than You Think!
Godzilla, the world’s most famous kaiju (giant monster), is making a big return — this time in a brand-new manga series! Fresh off the success of Godzilla Minus One, which even won an Academy Award, the King of the Monsters is gearing up for another exciting chapter.
The NEW Godzilla Manga Release Date
The new Godzilla manga will be released on May 27th this year. It will be published in Young Champion, a popular magazine known for its "seinen" manga — which usually targets older teens and adults.
While the manga’s official title hasn’t been announced yet, fans already know a few exciting details. The story will once again show humanity facing off against Godzilla, but there’s a twist — a brand-new monster from outer space will make its debut! This new space creature has never been seen before, so fans are eager to find out what kind of threat it will pose to Godzilla and the world.
Manga Team
The manga has an impressive creative team behind it. Ishiguchi Juu, known for working on anime like Sword Art Online and Black Fox, will be the main designer. He will be joined by Nishikawa Shinji, a long-time Godzilla artist who has worked on the franchise since the 1980s. Plus, Hiroshi Maruyama, famous for his work on Ultraman, will design the new space monster.
This isn’t Godzilla’s first time in the manga world. His manga debut was way back in 1954 with Science Adventure Picture Story: Godzilla. Since then, the King of the Monsters has appeared in various manga series, sometimes based on the movies and other times with brand-new stories.
Recently, there was even a Chibi Godzilla manga, which showed a much cuter, more playful version of the usually fearsome kaiju.
But Godzilla isn’t just taking over manga — he’s also stomping through Western comics. IDW Publishing has been releasing Godzilla comics, like Godzilla vs. America, where the monster storms across North America. Over in the Marvel universe, Godzilla is set to battle superheroes like Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, and the X-Men in upcoming one-shot comics.
No matter how you enjoy Godzilla — through movies, manga, or comics — there’s never been a better time to be a fan. With a new manga and plenty of other projects on the way, the King of the Monsters is here to stay!
