What Is Fate/Zero?
Fate/Zero is the prequel to Fate/Stay Night, a famous visual novel by Type-Moon. The story revolves around the Fourth Holy Grail War, a deadly battle where powerful mages summon legendary heroes to fight for the wish-granting Holy Grail. The main character, Kiritsugu Emiya, is a cold and calculating "mage killer" hired by the Einzbern family. He struggles between his ruthless methods, his love for his wife and daughter, and his ultimate goal of ending all conflict.
Originally written as a light novel series by Gen Urobuchi, Fate/Zero was first released as a four-volume dōjin (fan-published) work from 2006 to 2007. It was later re-released in six volumes in 2011. The series gained massive popularity, leading to an anime adaptation by ufotable in 2011-2012, which was a major hit. The anime introduced many fans to the Fate series and set the stage for future adaptations.
With the Fate/Zero stage musical continuing, fans can look forward to seeing the intense Holy Grail War brought to life again this September!
