Even Though We're Adults Ends Its Series Run
The manga will release its final chapter to close out its 10th volume.
Takako Shimura recently made an announcement on Twitter regarding her manga series called "Even Though We're Adults." She revealed that the series will end with its 10th volume, and readers can expect the final chapter to be released soon. The story, licensed by Seven Seas, follows Ayano, a thirties elementary school teacher, who unexpectedly encounters her old friend Shuri at a bar. A romantic connection forms between Ayano and Shuri as they converse, leading to a surprising kiss. However, Shuri becomes puzzled and taken aback when she learns that Ayano is married. Both characters realize that love doesn't become any easier as they age.
Shimura initiated the publication of this manga in March 2019 through Kiss magazine. The eighth volume was released on January 13 by Kodansha, and the ninth volume is scheduled for June 13. Due to Shimura's sudden illness, the manga had a hiatus from January to April 2021.
Takako Shimura is well-known for her previous works, including "Wandering Son" and "Aoi Hana." These mangas were adapted into anime television series in 2011 and 2009 respectively. Additionally, Shimura also designed the original characters for the anime series "Aldnoah.Zero" and "Battery," for which she also created a short-run manga. Fantagraphics Books publishes her "Wandering Son" manga in North America, while Viz Media releases "Sweet Blue Flowers."
Shimura has also been irregularly serializing "Beautiful Everyday" in Feel Young magazine, published by Shodensha, since 2016. Initially, the manga was planned to conclude in the magazine's March 2021 issue, but the final chapter was delayed until May due to Shimura's sudden illness.
