Ema Toyama Unveils New Manga Series Set to Debut on November 13!
Ema Toyama, the well-known manga creator, is set to release a brand-new manga titled Sare Koi: Saikaishita Moto Kare (Sare Love: Reunited with the Ex-Boyfriend) on November 13. The exciting news was revealed in the 19th issue of Shogakukan’s Betsucomi Flower digital magazine.
This new story goes a little something like this: a man who, 10 years ago, failed his entrance exams and lost the love of his life. Now, his former love is married to someone else—a man who promised to love her forever. However, things take a dramatic turn when evidence of her husband’s affair surfaces, brought to her attention by an unexpected person. This intriguing plot suggests a mix of romance, drama, and emotional tension, making it a must-read for fans of Toyama’s work.
Toyama’s career is filled with successful manga series. One of her more recent works, Tenseishite mo Neko wa Neko (A Cat will be a Cat Even After Reincarnation), started in March 2021 on Square Enix’s Gangan Online web app. The story of this unique manga, which explores a reincarnated cat’s life, ended with its second compiled book in July 2023.
Another one of Toyama’s notable works, Yōgisha A no Hanayome (The Bride of Suspect A), was released in Betsucomi Flower in August 2021 and ended earlier this year in February. The series concluded with its third and final volume published in March.
Fans of Toyama’s more long-standing projects will recognize her from the popular Vampire Dormitory manga, which first appeared in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine in 2018. This story went on hiatus but resumed with its second part in December 2022. The manga finally came to an end on June 3, 2023, after gaining a loyal fan base. It even inspired a television anime series that aired in April 2023 and was streamed by Crunchyroll.
Toyama has been active in the manga world for over a decade. One of her most iconic works, Missions of Love (Watashi ni xx Shinasai!) ran from 2009 to 2015 and won several awards. A sequel to Missions of Love followed in 2018. Toyama’s diverse catalog also includes titles like I Guess I Became the Mother of the Great Demon King's 10 Children and Majo Maid wa Joō no Himitsu o Shitteiru (The Witch Maid Knows the Queen's Secret), keeping her busy and fans eagerly waiting for her next creation.
With Sare Koi on the horizon, fans of Toyama can look forward to another exciting story full of emotional depth and unexpected twists.
