Dorohedoro Season 2 Officially Announced for 2025 Release with Exciting Update!

Fans of Dorohedoro, rejoice! The beloved anime is finally returning with a much-anticipated Season 2. After five years since its TV debut, the anime will hit screens in 2025, announced as part of the celebration for its fifth anniversary.

Originally based on Q Hayashida’s manga that ran from 2000 to 2018, Dorohedoro became a cult favorite for its gritty, surreal story and unique blend of dark humor, violence, and heart. The TV anime adaptation debuted in 2020 and was produced by MAPPA, instantly earning a strong fan following with its captivating world and memorable characters.

Last year, fans got a pleasant surprise when MAPPA confirmed that Season 2 was officially in development. While details were sparse back then, recent updates reveal that production has been in the works for quite some time. Series creator Q Hayashida expressed excitement for the continuation, saying, “I have never been so happy to have a continuation of the Dorohedoro anime!”

What’s New for Season 2?

MAPPA is once again helming the production, maintaining continuity with the first season. Director Yuichiro Hayashi, who led Season 1, has also been confirmed to return. However, it’s still unclear if the rest of the original staff—like scriptwriter Hiroshi Seko, character designer Tomohiro Kishi, and music creators [K]NoW_NAME—will reprise their roles.

The show’s second season promises to dive deeper into its unique setting, "the Hole," and the chaotic lives of its characters. Season 1 followed Caiman, a man cursed with a reptile head and no memory of his past, as he teamed up with his friend Nikaido to hunt down the Sorcerers responsible for his condition. Season 2 is expected to continue the mystery while escalating the war between humans and Sorcerers.

If you’re new to Dorohedoro or want to rewatch before Season 2, the first 12 episodes are available on Netflix. While it hasn’t been confirmed if Netflix will stream the second season, there’s still plenty of time to dive into this bizarre, action-packed world.
