Disney’s Twisted-Wonderland Anime Drops First Look at Season 1!
Disney’s Twisted-Wonderland is finally getting a full anime adaptation, and fans just got their first look at Season 1! The upcoming anime is based on the popular mobile game Twisted-Wonderland, a collaboration between Disney and Aniplex. The game, which launched in Japan in 2020, reimagines Disney’s classic villains as stylish students at a magical academy. The character designs were created by Black Butler creator Yana Toboso, adding a unique gothic touch to the series.
What to Expect From the Anime
The anime adaptation, titled Disney’s Twisted-Wonderland The Animation, will officially debut in Japan in October 2025. The first season will adapt the "Episode of Heartslabyul" arc, inspired by Alice in Wonderland. To build excitement, Disney released a new promo featuring a special poster that highlights the main characters from this arc.
But that’s not all—Disney has already confirmed that Twisted-Wonderland will have three seasons. Season 2 will focus on "Episode of Savanaclaw" (inspired by The Lion King), while Season 3 will cover "Episode of Octavinelle" (inspired by The Little Mermaid).
The anime will stream exclusively on Disney+ in Japan when it premieres. While there’s no official confirmation yet, it’s likely that the series will also be available on Hulu for U.S. viewers.
Special Event at AnimeJapan 2025
More details about the anime will be revealed during AnimeJapan 2025, a major anime convention happening on March 21-22. Fans can expect new trailers, cast interviews, and possibly even a release date announcement during the event.
Who’s Behind the Anime?
The anime is being produced by Yumeta Company and Graphinica, with Takahiro Natori and Shin Katagai directing. Yoichi Kato is handling the script, while Hanaka Nakano and Akane Sato are working on character designs. Some of the confirmed voice actors include:
