Classroom of the Elite Announces 4th Season: 1st Semester of 2nd Year to be Covered!
The "MF Bunko J Natsu no Gakuensai 2024" livestream event revealed some exciting news for fans of Classroom of the Elite. The anime series is officially getting a fourth season, which will focus on the first semester of the second year, adapting the Classroom of the Elite: Year 2 light novels. This next installment will continue the story of the elite high school students as they move into their second year, diving into new challenges and character developments.
Classroom of the Elite History
Classroom of the Elite originally aired its first season back in July 2017, quickly gaining a following. It was streamed by Crunchyroll, and Funimation provided an English dub for fans outside of Japan. After a long wait, the second season premiered in July 2022, covering the first-year student arc from the light novels. The second season was also streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired in Japan.
Classroom of the Elite Season 4 - What to Expect
The third season followed shortly after, premiering on January 3, 2023, and running for 13 episodes. It wrapped up the first-year story, completing the arc that the first two seasons had built up. Now, the upcoming fourth season will shift the focus to the students' second year, continuing their intense academic and social battles.
The Classroom of the Elite light novel series, written by Shōgo Kinugasa, was first published by Kadokawa in May 2015. Since then, the series has become extremely popular, with over 9.5 million copies in circulation, including digital versions. The light novels got a sequel series called Classroom of the Elite: Year 2, which debuted in Japan in January 2020 and will serve as the source material for the new season.
Seven Seas is currently releasing both the original light novel series and the Year 2 sequel in English, along with its manga adaptation. The Year 2 series starts after the first-year arc and follows the same characters as they face new hurdles in their second year.
