Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2 – Official Trailer Drops Ahead of January 16 Premiere!
Netflix has officially released the trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Castlevania: Nocturne, the spinoff to Frederator Studios’ acclaimed Castlevania animated series. The new season is set to premiere on Thursday, January 16, 2025, and will feature eight episodes, each lasting approximately 25 minutes.
The Castlevania: Nocturne series premiered in September 2023 and is set in 1792 France, during the French Revolution. This season continues the origin story of Richter Belmont, a descendant of Castlevania’s original protagonists, Sypha Belnades and Trevor Belmont.
Alongside Richter is Maria Renard, his ally and a beloved character from the Castlevania video game series. Both characters originate from Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and are pivotal in other fan-favorite titles, including Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The series blends its gothic lore with historical elements, immersing viewers in an exciting battle against dark forces.
The creative team behind the show includes Kevin Kolde as showrunner and Clive Bradley as the series creator and writer. Project 51 Productions, with animation services by Powerhouse Animation, handles the production. This team has consistently delivered high-quality storytelling and animation, making the franchise a standout in Netflix’s animated portfolio.
The origins of this spinoff series trace back to April 2021, when Deadline reported Netflix’s interest in expanding the Castlevania universe with a fresh cast of characters. By June 2021, key figures from the original series, including executive producer Kevin Kolde, along with Sam and Adam Deats, confirmed the project was in progress.
The original Castlevania series began its journey in July 2017 with a four-episode season, followed by an eight-episode second season in October 2018. A third season with 10 episodes premiered in March 2020, and the fourth and final season was released in May 2021. Each installment garnered critical acclaim, cementing Castlevania as a flagship Netflix series. Viz Media later distributed the series on home video, expanding its audience further.
Netflix’s description of Castlevania sets the tone for the gripping battles to come: “A vampire hunter fights to save a besieged city from an army of otherworldly beasts controlled by Dracula himself. Inspired by the classic video games.” Fans of the franchise can expect a thrilling continuation in Castlevania: Nocturne’s second season, with rich storytelling, stunning animation, and an engaging cast of characters.
