Blue Box Season 2 Confirmed – The Romance Returns!
It’s official – Blue Box is coming back with a second season! The news was announced by the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, right after the final episode of Season 1 aired in Japan. To celebrate, the team also released a brand-new visual and teaser video to hype fans up!
The anime is based on the manga Blue Box (Ao no Hako) by Kōji Miura, and it's a mix of romance, sports, and high school drama. It follows Taiki Inomata, a boy on the badminton team who has a crush on Chinatsu Kano, a basketball player. Things get interesting when they start living under the same roof!
Blue Box Season 1 - The History
Season 1 started airing in Japan on October 3, 2024, and ran for two cours (that's basically half a year). It was also available on Netflix in Japan starting October 4, and it streamed on over 25 different platforms across the country.
The second half of the season (the second cour) kicked off on January 2, 2025, with new opening and ending theme songs. The opening song “Shikaraba” was performed by Macaroni Enpitsu, and the ending theme “Contrast” was by TOMOO. Earlier in the season, fans enjoyed “Same Blue” by Official HiGE DANdism and “Teenage Blue” by Eve.

For manga readers, Blue Box is also available in English on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform. The series began as a one-shot in 2020 and started full serialization in 2021. As of now, over 6.2 million copies are in circulation! The manga’s 19th volume came out in Japan on March 4, 2025, with Viz Media releasing Volume 14 in English on the same day.
