Black Torch Manga Announced for TV Anime Adaptation!
Exciting news for manga fans! During its panel at Emerald City Comic Con on Saturday, Viz Media announced that Tsuyoshi Takaki's Black Torch manga is officially getting an anime adaptation. While there’s no exact release date yet, the anime is said to be coming "soon."
About the Anime
The Black Torch anime will be directed by Kei Umabiki, known for his work on ClassicaLoid and Quality Assurance in Another World. The animation is being handled by 100Studio. Gō Suzuki (Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale) is designing the characters, while Gigaemon Ichikawa (Himitsu no AiPri) is in charge of writing and supervising the series scripts. Adding to the excitement, Yutaka Yamada, famous for his powerful music in Tokyo Ghoul and Babylon, will be composing the soundtrack.
What is Black Torch About?
The story follows Jiro Azuma, a descendant of a long line of shinobi (ninja), who has a unique ability — he can talk to animals. Despite his rough and rebellious exterior, Jiro has a soft spot for all creatures, often putting himself in danger to protect them. His life takes a dramatic turn when he encounters a mysterious stray cat. But this is no ordinary feline — the cat fuses with Jiro, granting him incredible powers and dragging him into a hidden war between humans and terrifying supernatural spirits known as Mononoke.
The manga masterfully blends action, fantasy, and supernatural elements, creating a fast-paced, intense story with stunning battles and heartfelt moments.
