Anime Based Mobile App Game Will Shut Down
Trinity Seven: Phantasm Library & Seventh Sol will end service on June 13th
Trinity Seven: Phantasm Library & Seventh Sol, a mobile app game by Silicon Studios, will discontinue its service in Japan on June 13, as the game's staff announced. The game, launched in March 2019, features an original story by manga artist Kenji Saitō.
The game's story revolves around Arata Kasuga, a candidate for the position of Demon Lord at Royal Biblia Academy. Alongside a group of beautiful female mages known as the Trinity Seven, Arata encounters a Breakdown Phenomenon of unprecedented scale. This phenomenon manifests as seven Black Suns appearing in the sky, accompanied by many dangerous magical creatures emerging from the Phantasm Library, which engulfs the academy. As a result, Arata's body begins to fade away.
It becomes evident that the Breakdown Phenomenon caused by the seven suns interferes with Arata's past and erases his present existence. The Trinity Seven must venture into the dungeon hidden within the Phantasm Library to save him. However, this dungeon manifests Arata's past, where his memories will be reset. As they progress, the Trinity Seven unravels the mystery behind the sudden appearance of the Phantasm Library and the mastermind orchestrating the Breakdown Phenomenon.
The social game was initially announced by Silicon Studio in December 2017, with plans for release on smartphones and PC in 2018. However, development was canceled in November 2018. In June 2018, Silicon Studio announced its divestiture of the game development business, establishing Creek and River subsidiary to handle future game development and management. The majority of Silicon Studio's stocks were transferred to this new subsidiary.
The Trinity Seven manga, created by Kenji Saitō and Akinari Nao, began serialization in Kadokawa's Monthly Dragon Age magazine in 2011. As of May 9, 2023, the manga has reached its 29th volume and has over 3 million copies in print. The success of the manga led to various spin-off manga adaptations. Nevertheless, development of the game resumed in January 2019.
Additionally, the Trinity Seven franchise has been adapted into a 12-episode television anime series that premiered in October 2014, with Crunchyroll streaming the anime simultaneously with its airing in Japan. The franchise also spawned two films: Trinity Seven: Eternal Library & Alchemic Girl, released in Japan in February 2017, and Trinity Seven: Heavens Library & Crimson Lord, released in Japan in March 2019. Both films are available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
