About the Manga
Kazune Kawahara’s manga originally launched in Bessatsu Margaret magazine back in June 2021. It’s been praised for its heartfelt take on teen romance and growing up. The story follows Sae and Kōki, childhood friends whose relationship starts to change as they enter high school. Sae slowly realizes she’s falling for Kōki—but she isn’t the only one with eyes on him.
The 11th volume of the manga is set to release in Japan this Thursday. Meanwhile, English publisher Viz Media released the first English volume on March 4, 2025, making it more accessible to international fans.
Kawahara is no stranger to hits. Her earlier works, including High School Debut and My Love Story!!, were turned into anime and live-action films. With a strong team and a charming love story, A Star Brighter Than the Sun is shaping up to be another fan favorite this fall.
